Vertical blinds

Possibilities for assembly and handling

Basically vertical blinds curtains can be divided into two types: free-hanging vertical blinds and wired vertical blinds. You can choose the free-hanging version in case the lamellae curtain can just hang down vertically and a slight swinging or swaying is not disturbing. To limit this swinging movement the vertical blinds at the bottom are weighted down with an integrated loading sheet and they are vertically as well as horizontally oriented by connecting chains. With wired vertical vertical blinds the lower part of the vertical blinds is additionally guided in a rail. Like that you can also fix vertical blinds curtains at horizontal or sloping surfaces, as so-called ceiling system.

Standard – free-hanging lamellae curtains

For all vertical window shapes, terrace doors and also for room dividers the free-hanging version is best suitable, because you do not have to fix an extra rail in the ground, which for example could become an additional tripping hazard with a room divider or at a balcony door. One should also consider that it is difficult to remove dirt and humidity from a guide rail fixed in the ground, as well as the fact that the slide function could be affected by that after some time. With the loading sheets in the lower part of the lamellae and the connecting chains between the vertical blinds a constant distance, the parallel movement and a smooth hanging of the vertical blinds are sufficiently guaranteed.

Slope – bent and sloping shapes

Lamellae curtains can be fixed both on vertically bent spaces – like that also in rooms with rounded walls – and on horizontally bent and sloping windows and ceilings. With so-called slope systems the upper rail does not run parallel to the ground, therefore no wiring is possible, in case you want to slide the vertical blinds curtain sideway. With sloping or horizontally bent vertical blinds curtains in the free-hanging version the respective shorter side should be the operating side, so that the longer vertical blinds do not drag on the ground while being pushed together.

Ceiling (Plafond) – wired lamellae

For ceiling windows, winter gardens or sloping attic windows lamellae can also be fixed in a horizontal or sloping way. Of course, here they have to be wired on both ends, so that they do not sag. For this purpose the vertical blinds are kept in shape with the help of a spring system between the guide rails. Like that they function similar to sun-blinds, with the only difference that they consist of the much wider vertical blinds and a textile transparency.

Operating of lamellae curtains

All kinds of vertical blinds curtains can be operated variably. The manual opening and turning can be achieved by a pull chord or an endless chain. With bigger respectively lamellae curtains that are hard to access (e.g. ceiling windows) the use of electric drives is much more comfortable. In combination with light or heat sensors the climate in your rooms can also be optimally handled in case you are absent.
